Custom systems for upstream primary packing machines

Horizontal cartoners

One glance at MERLIN family horizontal cartoners will assure you of their refinement. The flagship model MERLIN 300XC is poised - with a top speed of 300 cartons per minute - to become an indispensable link in packaging customers' manufacturing process.

Rotary carton pick-up system

At the heart of MERLIN machines is the rotary carton pick-up system which grabs the carton from the magazine, pre-breaks it by counter suction, and then loads it smoothly into the carton chain. The carriers in the chain then hold the carton squarely till product-loading and carton-closing is completed. There are four models in the MERLIN series, each fitted with one to three rotary arms, depending on the model speed.

Intermittent cartoners

Mainly meant for difficult products which cannot be handled in a continuous motion model, KYTE machines can even collate products before being loaded into the carton. Pencils, soaps, candles, blisters are a few examples of these. Also, larger products which do not require higher speeds are ideal for use in this horizontal cartoning machine, and various size ranges are available to cater for these.

Vertical cartoners

The HARRIER semi-automatic vertical cartoner has a manual loading/insertion function for small, multiple and odd-shaped products, although auto in-feed is available for many products. The small footprint ensures this vertical cartoning machine can be moved around to be used for any new product in a new section. Maximum capacity is 50cpm.

Carton or cuboid bundlers

The OSPREY collates cartons or cuboids in a given matrix, overwraps BOPP film around it, envelope-folds the ends and then seals it from three sides to form a sturdy, aesthetic multipack.

Products handled, besides cartons, include soaps, biscuits and DVDs. A choice of collation options in 2D as well as 3D makes it a versatile bundling machine for people who believe in quality packaging as well as aesthetics for their product.

Casepackers for bare or secondary-packaged products

The KESTREL collates bare or secondary-packaged products in the required matrix, opens the case, closes one side of the case, loads the product into it and then closes the flaps by gluing. In case of wraparound cases, the blanks are taken from the stack and kept ready for product loading after which it is closed from all sides.

A variety of products can be handled by these casepacking machines by providing pick and place systems which are driven by a combination of pneumatics and/or servos.
