Amcor ALUFIX® is now BPA and Melamine Free

20 April 2010

In cooperation with milk powder and nutritional food manufacturers, Amcor has developed a new Bisphenol A (BPA) and melamine free lacquer system for its Amcor Alufix® peel-off ends membrane.

Amcor Alufix is the convenient solution for can closures and is based on Amcor's heat-seal know-how. Amcor Alufix enables a safe opening of the can and requires 50% less force compared to traditional ring-pull ends.

"We are very proud that we are now able to supply a 100% BPA and melamine free peel-off end membrane, which fulfils the recent recommendation of the food and drug administration regarding baby food can linings," says Christoph Dietrich, product development manager of Amcor Flexibles Singen. "This innovation, combined with Amcor Alufix's outstanding barrier properties and the elimination of sharp edges and metal splinters, makes cans a safe and reliable packaging solution."

The new lacquer system will be applied on the Amcor Alufix Dry and Amcor Alufix Dry PRO membrane foils and is already available on the market.

With Amcor Alufix opening a can is becoming a child's play and the new BPA and melamine free lacquer makes it perfectly suited for our youngest generation.
