Bonfiglioli Engineering Spa are leaders in leak testing technology and are manufacturers of automatic machines for micro-leak testing. The leak testing machines are available for plastic and metal packaging containers, pouches and sealed bags (Flo pack), aluminium and laminate tubes, aerosol cans, food cans and industrial containers, with models available. Bonfiglioli also produce the FR type cutting and milling system for the milling of plastic containers on a blow moulding line.
The leak test system consists of inserting a testing head on the container in order to create an airtight artificial chamber. The air around the container inside the testing chamber is sucked out and a negative pressure is created. Specially designed sensors monitor the vacuum changes during the whole test cycle. Machines are available for pharmaceutical and food manufacturing.
The Stern and ALD-50 series offer economical leak detection solutions for plastic containers or bottles on low productivity lines. The Stern series machines have a compact structure without optional groups. They can be best used in blow lines without orientated outlet. The machine is complete with conveyor belt and rejection station.
The ALD-50 series has four models available with different electronics for different operating systems. The push button panel allows the input of testing parameters for eight different sizes of container or bottle, at rates of up to 3,500 units per hour.
The Index machine is a fully automated micro-leak testing machine for low and medium line production speeds. It is ideal for small size containers or bottles that normally create stability problems, and can be used for either metal or plastic containers / bottles, open top or filled and sealed.
The HSL-200 is a high-speed continuous motion in-line container leak tester. The one or two testing head machine can reach outputs of even 9000 cph making it one of the fastest single station leak testing machines on the market already used world wide. It can take various sizes with minimal tooling and fast change overs. It incorporates an Auto-Learn system, which allows the parameters to be adjusted according to the container being tested. This machine is a very economical alternative to expensive rotary systems with the same output and leak detection capability. The foot print space is only 1m x 0.7m making it very compact and easy to fit in existing lines either after blow moulding facilities or prior to the filling lines.
The SXE 40 is the most advanced and economical leak testing machine for plastic pouches and sealed bags. It features a three to five minute tooling changeover time for adaptability in production. The machine is driven by a sophisticated electronic system, offering unparalleled leak testing capability.
The Rotary Leak Detector series detects faulty containers (aerosol, food cans, bottles) on the production or filling line. The RLD-400 models specifically cater for pharmaceutical and food production lines, where containers and bottles must be inspected after filling and closing. The RLD-230 and RLD-250 models are specially designed for detecting faulty open top, unfilled containers or tubes at up to 80,000 units per hour.
The LF series is a low investment cost leak detection machine, offering high sensitivity and rapid format change for low production lines. The LDM machines use four testing heads to run up to 60 unfilled metal containers per minute, in dimensions ranging from 5 litres to 210 litres. Both the LDM and LF series can be fitted with a wide range of optional devices to customise them for specific applications.
The KB series offers many variations to suit specific metal containers and end product uses. The KBA machines leak test aerosol containers and are available in various configurations, testing up to 600 cans per minute. The KBP machines are designed for testing industrial containers over 155mm in diameter at up to 100 units per minute. The VLD machines leak test open top metal containers up to 155mm in diameter at up to 1,200 units per minute.
