Weighing electronics and load cells for packaging machinery

Rinstrum works with packaging machinery makers to reduce settling time through the selection of suitable weighing electronics and load cells. Ideally to reduce settling time a single point load cell should be made compact to reduce deflection. The reduced deflection corresponds to reduced signal strength which often provides a challenge for the weighing electronics.

As a designer and manufacturer, Rinstrum's electronics are engineered to handle low signal strength allowing for more suitable mechanical design. The single point load cell design can be customised and manufactured accordingly by Rinstrum to provide an optimal electronics load cell combination - helping you to achieve superior performance from your packaging machinery.

Flexible batching and filling weight indicators

The R400 series are powerful and flexible batching and filling weight indicators. They are ideal for dosing, bagging, silo discharge, multi-head batching machines and bulk packing systems.

Loss in weight: negative batching is supported by setting the fill direction which defines if the weight is increasing or decreasing while batching - ideal for discharge and dosing applications.

Batch suspend: to pause and adjust the tare weight then resume the batch. This is ideal for when a material feeding the batch needs to be topped up during the batch without affecting the batched amount, or when feeding from multiple bulker bags, etc.

Overall system accuracy allows for unprecedented filling control with uncertainty of less than 1 millisecond. The 32 I/O control points available on R400 weight indicators allow for complex control with multiple set points, enables and interlocks.

Networking is supported with standard serial communications, Ethernet or Profibus for communications back to a PLC or remote monitoring of material usage and batch statistics back to a PC, for example.

Weight transmitters for equipment manufacturers

Rinstrum's 1203 series of weight transmitters are economical, robust instruments that provide fast and accurate weight readings - available as a board only option (PCB) only through to a unit provided in a sturdy industrial housing.

The drive capability of 300mA at up to 30VDC allows for direct control of most DC powered actuators and relays. The two built-in outputs can drive alarms or can be used for simple level control applications. The built-in input can be used for remote zero, clear of peak value, or to enable PLCs to control serial transmission frequency.

Configurable analogue output: built-in 16-bit isolated analogue output for connection into PLCs and 100Hz updates for smooth analogue performance. Built-in RS232 DB9 serial connection allows easy setup using the free Viewer software on a PC, which allows for configuration to be saved and loaded onto other units.

RS232 and RS485 serial outputs: built-in serial communications for connection to PLC controllers, PCs or score boards. Both are full duplex with RS485 supporting multi-drop networks of up to 30 units.
