Demand for food solutions that conform to fast-paced lifestyles continues to increase, according to speciality packaging manufacturer Parkside.

The convenience food market is forecast to be worth £21.7bn by 2021, a significant leap from £15.1bn recorded in 2015, according to IGD Retail Analysis. Manufacturers are tapping into this trend, developing unique concepts in an attempt to establish themselves in an already competitive marketplace.

Phil O’Driscoll, recently appointed Head of Innovation & NPD at Parkside, will be discussing the development of the convenience trend and how Parkside is responding at the forthcoming PackHub Innovation Zone Live event taking place on Tuesday 22 November.

Phil commented: "As a leading packaging manufacturer, we believe that we have a significant role to play in meeting the evolving demands of today’s consumer. Correct packaging sizing is important – as consumers’ lives become busier and as their consumption habits change, portion-sized, fast and convenient home cooking solutions not only meet their needs but also help to reduce food waste."

A number of other leading packaging suppliers from across Europe will be joining Phil in presenting at the event. Taking place at the National Space Centre, Leicester, the seminars will give brand owners and retailers the chance to hear about the latest packaging innovations.

During the PackHub event, Phil will present a number of recently launched Parkside innovative solutions meeting the consumers’ convenience needs. These include:

  • Walls snack pack: a multi-cavity pack for on-the-go snacking
  • Seabrooks share bag: a reclosable bag for sharing convenience
  • Burton’s Biscuits Cadbury Finger snack pack: an innovative ‘snap and go’ concept
  • Parkscribe Steam™: a flexible self-venting pack for frozen foods
