Graphic Packaging International (GPI) is set to demonstrate ReShape, a new technology for the beverage industry, at next month's Drinktec 2017 event in Munich, Germany.

The company said that ReShape is capable of creating multiple packing configurations with one piece of packaging equipment.

ReShape can be used by beverage manufacturers to reconfigure their cartons to meet future requirements.

GPI Packaging Machinery Division director Doug Hicks said: “ReShape opens up many options in beverage packaging.

"The system can both internally and externally nest primary containers to create a variety of shapes and sizes with the potential to use less fibre."

GPI will also integrate robotic technology with its machinery to develop a scalable solution capable of creating a variety of packs.

The company will also showcase AutoMaxx, a high-speed, compact system that can produce a range of wraps and baskets, and QuikFlex 300, an entry-level machine that creates cans, bottles or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) solutions in several formats.

The AutoMaxx is an evolution of two existing machines that provide greater manufacturing flexibility with a smaller environmental footprint.
