13 January 2011

Finland-based Stora Enso is to invest €285m in a containerboard machine in its Ostroleka plant, Poland to increase the production of paperboard.

The machine will improve Stora Enso's overall cost position through internal supply of lightweight containerboard made from recycled fibre.

After the installation, Stora Enso plans to shut down containerboard machine PM 2 at the mill.

The machine is expected to increase the company's containerboard production from 35% to 60% with a production capacity of 455,000t a year.

The annual capacity of Ostroleka Mill, which is part of Stora Enso's industrial packaging segment, is currently 270,000t of containerboard and Kraft paper.
