Swiss speciality chemical company Clariant has introduced a new range of Mevopur additives for pharmaceutical packaging converters.
According to Clariant, Mevopur nucleants enable converters to achieve an increase in production of up to 12% compared with non-nucleated PP-H, and improvements compared with conventional nucleants, as shown in tests using injection and injection/compression moulded caps.
The additives use the latest generation technology, reduces cycle times by improving the rate of crystallisation and the crystallisation temperature versus conventional technology in homopolymer and random copolymer polypropylene, and in HDPE and LDPE.
According to the company, they have consistent and finer morphology and can make the polymers rigid without degrading impact strength, which allows converters to create thinner-walled part sections and generate raw material savings.
Mevopur nucleants also reduce moulding defects caused by anisotropic shrinkage, such as warping and sink marks.
