The Body Shop to use 100% PCR plastic bottles

The Body Shop is set to launch a new set of beauty products made from 100% post-consumer recyclate (PCR) plastic bottles.

The “Wellbeing” range of beauty products have been designed to celebrate its ethical roots in the 'nature's way to beautiful' campaign, which launches online and across its network of more than 2,500 stores worldwide on 24 August.

The company also said it plans to convert all PET bottles from 30% recycled material to 100% over the next 12 months.

Retailers report on trials for plastic bags

British retailers WH Smith and Woolworths have reported a reduction in single-use carrier consumption, following trials where customers were charged for bags.

WH Smith has reported a 50% drop in carrier bag use after charging customers 1p per single use across 80 of its stores in England.

Woolworths, which charged customers 3p per bag, says plastic bag consumption across its stores in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire over the course of May, went down by 80%.

The company said it currently has no plans to extend the trial.

Last week Tesco announced its plans to make customers ask for single-use carrier bags to reduce usage.

Lannett said it plans to continually expand the number of pharmaceuticals it offers in bulk to include certain distributed products.
