Taiwan’s chip packaging and testing company Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) is planning to acquire Universal Scientific Industrial (USI).
ASE and its two units, J&R Holding and ASE Test, own a combined 18.2% stake in USI and plan to buy the remaining USI shares to own the company outright, according to Reuters.
USI, a maker of PC peripherals and other equipment, joined the ASE group about a decade ago, USI said on its website.
