Rexam Restructures Production Units

Rexam said it plans to close its polypropylene resin plant in Michigan, US, by the end of the third quarter of 2010, as part of restructuring plans.

The London-based packaging firm acquired the plant in 2007 with $1.8bn from Owens-Illinois.

Rexam has also announced to shut down a food and beverage closures plant in Hamlet, North Carolina, plasticsnews reports.

In 2009, Rexam closed a foam pump plant in Pompano Beach, Florida and a plant in Holden, Massachusetts. It also sold an industrial containers plant in Sussex, Wisconsin.
