Winpak has reported an increase in Q4 2009 profit to $11.4m compared to $8.9m a year earlier, helped by strong volume growth and lower material costs.
The Canadian packaging firm in Winnipeg said its fourth quarter sales rose by 4.5% to $135.5m, from $129.7m in 2008.
The company has posted a profit of $42.9m for the year, from $29.4m a year ago.
Winpak's gross profit margins declined to 29.2% in the fourth quarter from 30.1% recorded a year ago.
Winpak said it is seeking acquisition opportunities across the food and healthcare packaging sectors.
