Artenius to Boost Levels of Recycled Content

19 February 2010

Artenius PET Packaging Europe (APPE) is planning to increase levels of post-consumer recycled PET (rPET) content in a range of its preforms and containers in the UK.

APPE, which supplies a blend of 75% virgin and 25% rPET material, aims to increase recycled content up to 70-80%, the company said.

The firm's decision follows the recent agreement approval with plastics recycling firm AWS Eco Plastics, which will annually supply around 13,000t of rPET pallets to the company.

APPE, part of Spanish firm La Seda de Barcelona, said it is investing in a new mixing facility at its Gresford, UK plant, where the rPET pellets will be combined with virgin material.

APPE supplies 100% rPET bottles via its existing PET recycling plant in Beaune, France.
