Coca-Cola is planning to take over the North American operations of its largest bottler, Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) in a deal worth $15bn.
The deal includes the assumption of $8.9bn of CCE debt and all the bottling company's North American assets and liabilities, while CCE will buy Coke's bottling operations in Norway and Sweden for $882m.
CCE will also gain rights to acquire Coca-Cola’s 83% equity stake in its German bottling unit, reports Reuters.
The US beverage giant expects to generate operational cost savings of around $350m over four years.
The news follows PepsiCo's decision to acquire its two largest bottlers-Pepsi Bottling Group and Pepsi Americas for $7.8bn.
