Amcor PET packaging said it has unveiled a new range of PET bottle designs that reduce the use of resin.

The US packaging company said its CoFlex design that produces 20-ounce bottle using 22g of PET saves up to 42% of resin use.

Its Arches design offers 22% resin savings on 96oz bottles and 19% resin savings on 64oz bottles, reports plastics news.

Active Hinge design using vertical and horizontal grooves also offers a 2% resin savings on a 46oz bottle, the company said.

Michigan-based Amcor said the designs will be available by mid-2011.
