Packaging company Spartech Corporation plans to open a new technology centre in St Louis, Missouri, US, this year.
The facility is expected to bring its material development, product development and packaging technology centres to one location.
The new centre, which will be expanded to an 80,000 to 100,000ft² facility, will include lab capabilities, new technologies in material science, extrusion and packaging products.
The company's three business segments, operating facilities in the US, Mexico, Canada and France, annually process nearly one billion pounds of plastic resins, specialty plastic alloys, and colour and specialty compounds.
The company has reported a net profit of $8.4m on sales of $926.8m in 2009.
