Australia-based food processing and packaging solution provider TNA has introduced a new vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) system, arctic 3, after acquiring Italian VFFS manufacturer Sabalpack earlier in 2016.

Part of Sabalpack’s range of wash-down arctic VFFS systems, the new TNA arctic 3 can operate in both wet and cold processing environments.

The new system features a stainless steel, corrosion-resistant cubicle as well as a separate electrical cabinet and an external touchscreen.

The corrosion-resistant cubicle ensures that the solution's major components, such as motors, vacuum pump and sealing jaws, are fully protected from any dirt or water ingress.

Suitable for the fresh and frozen sector, the system can perform sealing for various packaging films, including laminated polypropylene and polyethylene films.

Additionally, the solution supports pillow, gusseted and square bottom bags as well as multipacks.

"Food manufacturers in this segment need to adhere to some of the strictest sanitary regulations, so a simple and hygienic equipment design is critical."

TNA group general manager Michael Green said: “We see immense opportunities in the fresh and frozen foods sector – in particular as people continue to look for foods that blend convenience, health and indulgence.

“Food manufacturers in this segment, however, need to adhere to some of the strictest sanitary regulations, so a simple and hygienic equipment design is critical.

“Sabalpack has a long history in the development of all stainless steel equipment, which made the company’s portfolio a great fit for our own range of high-performance VFFS technology.”

So far, the company has provided more than 14,000 systems across more than 120 countries worldwide.

TNA also offers material handling, processing, cooling and freezing, coating, distribution, seasoning, weighing, packaging, inserting and labelling services.
