Bosch to unveil powder handling system for pharmaceutical industry
Bosch Packaging Technology is set to introduce a new packaging system for the pharmaceutical industry that is able to handle a wide range of granulates, powders and pellets.
The system is designed to provide accurate dosing through sophisticated filling augers, and integrates a stick pack, flow wrapping machine.
Its primary packaging consists of the ten-lane vertical Sigpack RA Stick Pack machine with servo-controlled filling augers.
According to Bosch the new system includes an in-line weighing system ensures that each processed stick pack contains the precise amount of product by providing feedback to controls that regulate and adjust dosing levels
The stick pack allows manufacturers to use 30% less packaging material when filling. Before moving through the interface to the secondary Sigpack HCM horizontal flow wrapper packaging unit, the filled and sealed stick packs are counted and grouped.
With a capacity to wrap up to 1,000 stick packs per minute, the machine provides flexibility to the manufacturers, as the secondary packaging can be easily modified to contain varying numbers of packs.
A cantilever design accompanies the system, which separates process and drives units completely.
The ergonomic operating height of the system gives a direct view into the packaging process, while its casing provides safety and noise protection for operator safety benefits.
Bosch Packaging Technology product manager Frank Bühler said the combination of the Sigpack RA and HCM machines in the packaging system allows manufacturers to bring this pack style to market safely.
"It ensures precise dosing at high cycle-speeds and we are pleased to have the opportunity to present it to pharmaceutical manufacturers at Achema in June," Bühler added.
