Deals this week: La Colombe Coffee Roasters, ABC Packaging Direct, Constantia Flexibles

La Colombe Coffee Roasters and Crown Beverage Packaging North America have reached an agreement to collaborate on the development of The MiniVault, a single-use recyclable can designed to extend the shelf life of coffee.

The product will combine La Colombe’s Corsica coffee with Crown’s 150ml slim style beverage can and the 360 End custom component, which comprises a thin plate of flexible aluminium that acts as a food-safe protector and prevents coffee grounds from spilling.

Available for sale in select La Colombe retail locations across the US and on the company’s website, the recyclable cans will be sold in eight-count boxes and wrapped in shrink sleeves.

ABC Packaging Direct's StandUpPouches division and Avery WePrint are creating a platform that would allow emerging consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands to order custom-designed labels for their stock packaging.

"Constantia Flexibles has reached an agreement with US-based Multi-Color to sell its labels division, Constantia Labels, for approximately €1.15bn ($1.33bn)."

Under the partnership, the companies will allow customers to upload their individual artwork or designs for free using software available on the Avery website.

Constantia Flexibles has reached an agreement with US-based Multi-Color to sell its labels division, Constantia Labels, for approximately €1.15bn ($1.33bn).

After the transaction, Constantia Flexibles will own 16.6% of Multi-Color’s outstanding shares.

The target company intends to use the proceeds to de-leverage its balance sheet, acquire new companies in the flexible packaging industry, and create innovative products and services to strengthen its Food and Pharma divisions.

Constantia Labels' food and beverage business is expected to be managed by Multi-Color’s wine, spirits and home and personal care divisions, following the acquisition.
