German BOPP film manufacturer Treofan has formed a strategic partnership with Turkish sales specialist, Köylü, to strengthen its packaging and labelling solutions business in Turkey.

Established in 1996 and headquartered in Istanbul, Köylü Matbaa Makinalari is a trading company in the country’s packaging and label industry.

It was the first company to deliver in-mould label (IML) coatings in Turkey under a partnership with Actega Terra.

Treofan CEO Dr Walter Bickel said: “Joining forces with Köylü is another step in the implementation of our growth strategy.

“We're systematically strengthening our presence in core markets so that we can react even more flexibly to local customers' specific needs.

“We also expect the partnership to further stimulate our growth in the dynamic Turkish market.”

The partnership is expected to enable local processors and producers to access Treofan’s latest system solutions that combine BOPP films with composite materials.

"We're systematically strengthening our presence in core markets so that we can react even more flexibly to local customers' specific needs."

Köylü founder and CEO Mahmut Köylü said: “Collaborating with both Treofan and Actega Terra will enable us to respond to our customers' needs even more quickly and individually in future.”

The Treofan Group focuses on the production of BOPP films, which is used for packaging, labelling, tobacco and other technical applications.

It operates four facilities, employs 1,100 people, and sells its products in more than 90 countries.

Last June, the company invested $45m in a new five-layer, 10.4m orientation line to increase production capacity by nearly 50% at its Mexican plant in Zacapu.
