The 'inside cut' technology helps Abergavenny to improve product appeal and reduces film consumption by 5%.	Abergavenny Fine Foods, a UK based cheese maker that provides a variety of traditional and modern cheeses, installed an Ishida QX775 tray sealer.

AJ and RG Barber Cheese Packaging Upgrade, Somerset
Barbers mainly specialises in the production of block cheeses from 2.5g to 5kg and 20kg.	AJ and RG Barber produces a whole range of cheese, including continental and local varieties.	The Scirocco system can pack cut portioned cheese at a speed of up to 200 packs per minute.
The Barber family keep a herd of 1,700 cows to produce milk for cheese production.	The Barber family have been producing cheese since the 1800s.

Al Ain Dairy Filling Line Expansion
Al Ain Dairy is now introducing flavoured camel milk, camel milk chocolate and yoghurts made from camel milk.	Al Ain Dairy has also become involved in the fruit juice market with the production of six flavoured juices from fresh juice concentrate.	In September 2009 Al Ain Dairy purchased two systems to increase their filling capacity for juices and dairy products.
Al Ain Dairy was the first established dairy farm in the United Arab Emirates.	The dairy's filling systems have been supplied with UV equipment to kill bacteria.

The facility will consist of a vegetable processing and canning plant and an adjacent state-of-the-art can production facility.	A body maker and cupper as will be installed at the Crown Food Europe can production facility.
A roll unwinder and lubricator as will be installed at the Crown Food Europe can production facility.	A can conveyor belt taking cans to be packed and palletised prior to transfer to the canning facility.	Crown Food Europe will build and outfit the can production plant to produce 400g sweetcorn and garden pea cans of 83mm diameter with fully decorated can ends.

Catering Houtop Packaging Upgrade,
The upgrade at the Catering Houtop facility is Proseal's first installation in mainland Europe.	Catering Houtop has a reputation for quality and also bakes its own fresh bread for sandwiches.	The Proseal SP30 machine can handle 30 packs per minute at its full speed.
The SP30 has a relatively small footprint making it more convenient for smaller operators.	Catering Houtop makes sandwiches with at least 12 different fillings.

Centrally Packed Meats, Meat Packing Facility

Chicken of the Sea Plant
The new facility in Lyons, Georgia, has been established in an existing building saving time and money.	Chicken of the Sea has closed its existing facility in American Samoa.	The plant will take frozen tuna loins exported through the port of Savannah and produce canned tuna.
Chicken of the Sea tuna is one of the premium tuna brands in the US.

Chocolat Frey Production Plant Upgrade, Buchs
Chocolat Frey completed an installation of new high-speed robotic packaging equipment at its Buchs facility in December 2004.	The new line consists of eight Delta robots to reduce manual handling at the factory by placing chocolates into blister packs and blister packs into cartons.	Specific optical vision technology has the ability to recognise unique product packaging formats and specifically select them to be filled with the correct product.

The Kibutz Eilon is in the north of Israel.	The sweet potatoes are mostly destined for the European markets.	Sweet potatoes straight from the ground need a great deal of cleaning.
The new facility has boosted packing capacity by 400%.

Del Monte Fruit Processing and Packaging Facility,
The Fruit Express range is one which benefits from Del Monte's new processing and packaging system.	Videojet provided the coding printers.	Del Monte is well known for producing quality fruit and vegetables.
The number of cases produced each day has increased by 60% at the Del Monte facility.	The retorting packaging system is becoming more popular.	Del Monte also produce canned and glass-packed fruit at their facility.

Delicato Automated Packaging Plant, Huddinge
Delicato pastries are presented in a new pack.	The HFSS platform is used in a compact packaging system that is flexible, and offers customised packaging solutions.	The new generation of distribution systems support the functioning of HFSS application.

EDV Barrier Cup Production Technology

Etitalia Industria Grafica New Facility and Equipment Upgrade,
The port of Naples is the third-biggest city in Italian after Rome and Milan.	Etitalia has paved the way for future expansion with an €8m investment in a new production plant on an industrial estate in Buccino.	Beniamino Moriniello (r) with KBA-Italia's regional sales manager Antonio Golisciani and marketing manager Dario Braschi at Etitalia's new Rapida 106 – its third medium-format KBA press in just a few years.
The Rapida 106 at Etitalia is the first seven-colour hybrid coater version of this press type in Italy.	Etitalia purchased a ten-colour Flexotechnica N 10 G at the same time as the KBA Rapida 106.

EWOS Fish Feed Packaging Line, Westfield
Norway's major fish feed producer, EWOS, installed an extension to its pellet conveying, packing and palletising lines at its plant in Westfield, UK.

Faribault Foods,
Faribault Foods has extended its product base with a range of stand-up pouch fruit juice drinks.	Three pouch-filling lines at the Elk River facility produce 10% or 100% fruit juice drinks for Faribault Foods.	Sensors on the Elk River filling line check if the pouch has been successfully filled.
The three high-speed lines at the Elk River facility can fill 250 pouches per minute.	Faribault Foods converts its own pouches for control of quality and inventory.

Floella Benjamin's Caribbean Kitchen,
Floella Benjamin has produced a range of chilled ready meals that are being marketed through Morrison's.	Calypso chicken is just one of the traditional recipes being produced in the Floella's Caribbean Kitchen range.	The packaging system at the facility in Worthing, Sussex, required different sized trays so uses the Packaging Automation Ltd PA217 manual tray sealer.
Mutton curry with rice is one of the meals from the Caribbean Kitchen range that retails at £2.99.	Each tray is sealed with a film lid, allowing the product from the Caribbean Kitchen range to be viewed before eating.

Frankfurter Brauhaus
ET bottles for beer were first introduced to Germany in 2004.	The MB-Lok mini closure is a lightweight, two-piece design that contributes significantly to reducing the overall cost of bottling.	The MB-Lok mini closure helps to keep the product inside fresher.
The system used at the Frankfurter Brauhaus facility can be easily retrofitted to older bottling lines.

The component parts of the FastFill 60 are easy-to-access for maintenance and hygiene. The Fresh Olive Company uses the machine to fill tubs with olives.	The FastFill 60 is a volumetric pot-filling and heat-sealing machine.

George Weston Masterbatch Coding Installation,
Data on cost, freshness and other information is printed on the bread bag closures that are used to seal the products using DataLase masterbatch technology.	Datalase - a non-toxic inorganic additive is applied directly to Kwiklok bag closures. Lasers then activate the Datalase additive that undergoes chemical changes after absorbing the light energy.

Goa-Linda Confectionary Cartoning Line,
Goa-Linda installed an automatic end-load cartoning line from Kliklok-Woodman in August 2005 for packing bags of chocolate covered raisins and wafers.	Kliklok's short footprint SFR end-load cartoner can handle cartons in a range of lengths, widths and depths. It can also be operated from both sides thereby giving optimum utilisation of the limited space.

Gower View Foods Packaging Line, West Wales
Gower View Foods produces liquid stick packs, sachets and stand-up pouches.	The IWKA carton machine and metal detector.	The complete stick pack line including CIP set.
The stick pack line and potting machines can produce 100,000 liquid sticks per day.

Headland Foods
The Vision 400 machine installed at the Flint site.	The machine can pack 72 meals per minute.	Lines are easy to maintain and changeovers only take two minutes.
The machine can seal a variety of materials to different tray types.	The Vision 400 can even heat seal under MAP conditions.

Hershey Foods, Palletising System
The largest chocolate factory in the world is the Hershey facility in Pennsylvannia.	SKUs are affected by the seasons and number of orders, making the packing of products made by Hershey unpredictable.	Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are a famous Hershey product.
The new space for palletisation operations at the Hershey plant in Pennsylvania was only 7,000ft² and needed to accommodate a range of new automatic equipment.	The system at the Hershey facility uses a combination robotic and conventional to handle the volume and variation of SKUs.

Hitchen Foods has automated the line packing process at its Wigan facility with a pick-and-place case packer.

Hormel Foods Chilli Packaging Line, Stockton, CA
Tetra Pak's Tetra Recart packaging system is a square, paperboard, laminated, easy-to-open carton.	Hormel Foods' heat and serve chilli brands are now be packaged in Tetra Recart cartons instead of cans.	Contherm scraped surface heat exchangers are used to pasteurise the product before carton filling.
Tetra Recart is a combined processing and carton-based packaging system for in-container food sterilisation.	The packaging system wet products containing particles of varying sizes to be packaged for shelf lives in excess of 24 months.	Hormel has retained the same batch cooking process and recipes for its chillis despite the new processing and packaging system.

Huhtamaki
Huhtamaki's existing packaging plant in Ivanteevka in the Moscow region has now been accompanied by a moulded fibre egg packaging unit.	Packaging products manufactured by the Leotech® equipment housed in the new facility include Huhtamaki's recent ECOM® egg traypack.	Full ECOM® egg traypacks can be securely stacked in transport packs and on shelves, nested if required.
Leotech® equipment, employed in the new packaging unit, is used to produce environmentally friendly packaging made from recycled paper.	The Leotech® machines supplied by Huhtamaki Molded Fiber Technology BV produce millions of packaging items daily, in more than 30 different countries.

Ilchester Cheese Company,
RTS Flexible Systems introduced a PixCell robotic picking unit to the Ilchester facility.	The Applewood Chuckle is one of Ilchester's best-selling products. These are packed in a multipack.	Ilchester individually packaged Chuckle cheese products come in a vast range of flavours.
The Ilchester Cheese Company was one of the pioneers of blended and flavoured cheeses.	Ilchester makes over 50 different varieties of cheese, including traditional and new recipes.

Inline Plastics Plant,
The new Inline Plastics plant at McDonough.	Inline Plastics Corporation has opened a new plant in McDonough, Georgia, US, in response to growth in the company's innovative, environmentally friendly, sustainable food packaging products.	The new Inline Plastics plant will be engaged in manufacturing and distribution of thermoformed plastic food packaging.

John Baarda Tomato Packaging
The checkweigher at John Baarda Ltd can save as much as 100g of giveaway on a 500g punnet.	The tomatoes are produced all year around by using waste heat and CO2 from a neighbouring chemical plant.	Ten thousand vines a year can produce around 7,500t of tomatoes.
Tomatoes are grown in the largest greenhouse complex in the UK.	Checkpoint M is a high precision dynamic checkweigher that can even provide stats for line performance.

Josephine la Gourmet Tub Filling and Sealing
Before the final product is ejected, the PXG machine provides heat-sealing, code printing and pick and place tasks for plastic overcaps.	The PXG tub filling and sealing machine consists of 12 stations, cup feeding and ejecting devices, lid feeding and sealing, provision for two filling stations and a PLC control system.	Hygiene requirements are met through stainless steel construction and the use of food-grade materials for the parts of the machine that come into contact with the product.
The PXG filling machine packs Josephine's range of dips at a rate of 25 to 100 cups per minute and provides flexibility in cup sizes up to a maximum diameter of 117mm.

Lake Country Foods,
Smiths Detection provided the X-ray detection systems for the new line.	The Lake Country Foods facility is situated in Oconomowoc near Milwaukee.	A range of equipment has gone to make up the new powder packaging line which has all been integrated perfectly.
Sonoco provides the canisters for the packing of Lake Country Foods' dry powder products.	Spiral wound cardboard canisters are becoming more popular for this type of powder packaging.

LH Hayward, Bean Packaging Line,
The machines from UVA Packaging at the Hayward's facility can pack a wide range of different dried products.	Hayward's is the largest packer of red kidney beans in the US.	The form-fill-seal machines have increased the efficiency of the packing operation.
The LIMA 250 from UVA Packaging uses Siemens automation technology.	Hayward's packs 19 different varieties of beans, lentils and peas for the US domestic market.

Luxlait Super Dairy, Roost, Bissen
Tetra Pak is providing the majority of the equipment for the Luxlait 'super dairy'.	Tetra PlantMaster will control the Luxlait plant, providing full traceability.	A rendering of the new Luxlait facility, based in Roost, Bissen in Luxembourg.
The Luxlait super dairy will produce a range of products, including milk, cream and yoghurt health drinks.	The plant will intake around 120 million litres of raw milk per year.

Manner Wafers
The Cognex system allows 12 separate characteristics to be examined.	Reject rates have fallen and Manner AG has a better quality record.	The system operates at high speed to increase production.

Milchhoff Sterzin
The company is a cooperative that has 500 members.	The major yoghurt production is for the domestic market but there is also a big outlet to Canada.	Lacto bacillus is the essential component of yoghurt production.
There are over 100 varieties of Sterzing brand yoghurt produced.	The company produces a range of dairy products but majors in yoghurt production.

Mullins Cheese,
Wisconsin makes the most Cheddar in the US, with Mullins a key producer since 1970.	The Mullins plant in Knowlton uses milk from 900 Wisconsin dairy farms.	Colby-Jack, which is produced at the Mullins plant, is a blend of Colby (Wisconsin Cheddar) and Monterey Jack cheese.
In August 2007 Mullins added six new cheese block handling, orientation and packaging systems from Cryovac Food Packaging to its plant.	The Mullins plant packs around 5,500 blocks of cheese per day.

Mumias Sugar Company Packaging Plant
Sugar Cane became increasingly expensive during 2008 due to low availability arising from heavy rains between August and October.	Mumias has decided to change production and is producing more smaller-size bags of sugar.	Cut sugar cane ready for production.

Nestlé RFID Pallet Labelling System,
The SATO labelling machine, installed in the Nestlé facility, delivers high-quality throughput and handles complex labels in time-critical situations.	The automatic pallet labelling solution incorporates "Flag Tag" - a feature that allows Nestlé to tag all pallets with one type of tag.

New Zealand Fresh Cuts Salad Packaging System,
New Zealand Fresh Cuts has installed a new salad packaging facility at its Auckland plant.	The ROBAG 3 rotary triple jaw machine packs at a speed of over 220bpm.	TNA stainless steel scale in operation at NZFC.
New Zealand Fresh Cuts is one of the main packers of salad vegetables in New Zealand.	The Rangiri farm run by NZFC produces all of the company's baby carrots year-round.

PBM Nutritionals,
At the PBM Nutritionals plant in Georgia, Vermont, the new packaging line offers enhanced efficiency.	Packaging at the PMB facility is undertaken under cleanroom-style conditions.	PBM's new production line also offers new packaging options and faster speeds.
The GC 5000 coder from Graphic Controls is an integral part of the packaging process.

Peak Puddings, Tray Sealing Process, Buxton
Peak Puddings (Taste of the Moorlands) makes its products with the finest ingredients.	Peak Puddings (Taste of the Moorlands) was started on a sheep farm as a farm enterprise.	The Peak District provides an excellent area for business development.
The Peak Puddings range includes a number of well-known luxury puddings packaged in trays.	Production at the Peak Puddings facility is now being scaled up and so rapid packaging is more important than ever.

Penny Lane Foods Weighing and Packaging Line,
The Apex checkweigher, an integral part of the new packaging line installed by Prins UK at Penny Lane Foods Ltd, has a throughput of up to 300 packs per minute.	The modular construction of the multi-head weigher allows a single machine to use a variety of hopper sizes. The double door weigh-pans ensure fast and smooth operation.	The Innotech form fill seal machine has been tailored to Penny Lane's specific requirements.

Peterson Beck Seafood
Peterson Beck is investing more than €6.5 million in its cardboard fish packaging plant in Rønne, Denmark.	Carepack® liners are use to package fishblocks for storage and transportation.	Fish processing (gutting and cleaning).

Soleco Tray-Sealing Machine for Steamer Pots,
Soleco UK Ltd, a producer of pre-prepared salads and vegetables, purchased a new tray-sealing machine, the Vision 182, from Packaging Automation in May 2005.	Vision 182 is designed to cope with much deeper pots than normal, whilst at the same time, sealing both the top and bottom of the pot.

Multivac UK's R530 multi-format packaging machine, as used at the The Cheese Company packaging facility.	Sliced cheese in reclosable packaging.	Cheese at the factory is manufactured in three formats: a standard square punnet, a shingled slices pack, and a punnet-type pack with a clip-in reclosable lid.

Tip Top Ice Cream
Tip Top is one of the best-known brands of ice cream in New Zealand.	Fonterra's main production plant is now at Auckland where the Cognex In-Vision system is installed.	Fonterra produces a range of ice cream products using the finest ingredients, including chocolate.
The ice cream is produced in 2l tubs for retail sale and also larger containers for parlours.	Tip Top produces some unique flavours, such as vanilla and toffee-flavour, or 'hokey pokey'.

Ugo Foods, Pasta Packaging Upgrade, Hertfordshire
Pasta production at the Ugo foods facility uses UK free-range eggs.	PFM Packaging Machinery Ltd installed a multi-head weigher at the Ugo plant in June 2008.	Ugo has produced fresh pasta in the UK since 1929.
Ugo Foods needed a new weigher to handle the production volume of its filled pasta and to perform at high speeds with extreme precision.	PFM's custom packaging solution was designed to help Ugo meet its demand for filled pasta shapes.

Unipet Bird Feed Labelling System, Sittingbourne
Unipet has installed a PALS Labelling PA10E semi-automatic labelling system for its range of bird feed.

Village Nurseries Soft Fruit Packaging Facility
Village Nurseries has invested £500,000 in an eight-workstation Marco Packhouse system.	Most of the Marco Packhouse packaging system is automated but check weighing of produce must be done manually.	The LineMaster system incorporates workstations, labelling and packaging.
Raspberries are grown under glass in Village Nurseries' ten acres of greenhouses.	Village Nurseries won the Yorkshire Post growers' award for its Tulameen raspberries in 2007.

The Wensleydale Creamery is based in Hawes in North Yorkshire and uses locally sourced ingredients for its produce.	Wensleydale with cranberries is a popular product made by the Wensleydale Creamery.	The Wensleydale produced at the Hawes plant is matured for four to six months.
The composite tubes used for packaging Wensleydale Creamery's cheeses are part biodegradable and fully recyclable.	Smurfit Kappa's composite tube holds a 500g cheese truckle and incorporates two small holes in the body of the tube to allow the cheese to breathe and continue maturation during transport.

Whitelink Seafoods Shrink Packaging Machine
Atlanta shrink wrapping machinery was installed at Whitelink Seafoods' fish processing facility in Fraserburgh, Scotland.	Fresh seafood processing needs a packaging solution that will retain the quality.	Whitelink has also installed Ulma's HRX shrink tunnel, in which the film is shrunk by a stream of hot air.

Wisconsin Cheese Group, Packaging System
The pick and place M430iA/2F is used at the Monroe facility to increase the production rate.	The robot pick and place system uses a vacuum suction gripper as its tool which can be configured to pick up a variety of products.	The Hispanic cheese has shown enormous growth over the last five years and it now makes up around 50% of Wisconsin Cheese Groups’ sales.
The M430iA/2F is precisely directed in its operations by an accurate camera vision system that determines the position of each item on the line coming into the pick and place area.	A range of Hispanic cheeses are produced including frying cheese.

Wrigley, RFID Pallet Tracking System
Active RFID tags provide a consistent signal that can allow an accurate inventory both in warehouse and outside.	AeroScout has provided its active Wi-Fi RFID technology for use at the Wrigley facility.	Wrigley has implemented a pallet-level RFID system for asset and product tracking at its Poland facility.
Wrigley is currently implementing new pack graphics on its products.	The Wrigley facility in Poznan, Poland is the company's largest factory in Europe.

Wyke Farms, Weigher Upgrade,
The Wyke Farms facility in Brunton, Somerset has seen an increase in production of cheese.	Wyke Farms is one of the UK's largest independent cheese producers.	The company's best-selling extra mature brand of cheddar is packed using a flow wrap machine.
Wyke also produces reduced-fat healthy cheese varieties, such as the cheddar for Rosemary Conley's food range.	The Wyke Farms facility is now capable of achieving production of over 20,000t of cheese a year.
