NatureFlex High Barrier Family Tree Grows

Innovia Films has expanded its high barrier NatureFlex™ range of biodegradable and compostable cellulose-based packaging films.

The new high barrier films include a lustrous metallised version, NatureFlex NKM, a range of brightly coloured films, NatureFlex NKC and a solid white film, NatureFlex NK White. All these films provide an excellent barrier to moisture, a good barrier to gases and aromas and have a wide heat-seal range.

Derived from renewable resources, NatureFlex films are certified to meet the European EN 13432 and American ASTM D6400 composting norms. NatureFlex has also been confirmed as suitable for emerging ‘waste to energy’ techniques such as anaerobic digestion, aiding the diversion of organic wastes from landfill.

They also offer advantages for packing and converting such as inherent deadfold and anti-static properties, high gloss and they are resistant to grease and oil.

NatureFlex films are ideal for packaging confectionery, bakery goods, fresh produce, dried goods, snacks, household products and personal care items.

“These flexible films offer manufacturers of natural and organic products the opportunity to align their packaging message with the spirit of their product marketing; it provides them with a compostable, naturally-based packaging material. Increasingly we see major brand owners respond to the consumer commitment to do the right thing, reflected in an increased demand for sustainable packaging. Additionally, our coloured films are liked because they allow product differentiation at point of sale. In simple terms, brand owners recognise the benefits that NatureFlex can offer them commercially, technically and environmentally,” stated Paul Barker, Innovia Films’ product manager, NatureFlex and Cellophane™.
