RPM’s TL Series of automated packaging equipment can be used for various applications, including case packing and de-casing.

US-based packaging automation company K2 Kinetics has acquired Robotic Packaging Machinery (RPM), a company that designs and manufactures case packing solutions.

The acquisition will expand K2 Kinetics’ product portfolio while providing a comprehensive offering for several of RPM’s existing food and beverage customers.

The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

RPM founder Scott Thiede said: “This was a perfect opportunity to come under the umbrella of a company like K2 Kinetics, which has provided customised packaging and processing solutions for the food and beverage industry for more than a decade.

“Their creativity and ability to implement solutions to complex challenges that most integrators avoid quoting makes this an ideal combination, allowing additional customisation.”

K2 Kinetics managing director Kevin Keller said: “We’re excited to have RPM and Scott [Thiede] on board, both from a product line and knowledge acquisition standpoint.

“Scott brings new and different skill sets to our company and we’re excited to stretch our collective bandwidth and expand into a new product category and additional industries.”

For the past several years, K2 Kinetics has acted as a builder, installer and servicer for RPM’s machines. Mr Thiede has also collaborated on custom machine designs supporting K2 Kinetics customers.

RPM’s TL Series of automated packaging equipment can be used for various applications, including case packing, de-casing, box loading, tray packing and carton and clamshell loading.

The machines’ small footprint allows them to fit into any existing production line and be reconfigured easily as required. This enables end-users to avoid bulky and inflexible packaging equipment.

The equipment can be used to package a range of products in several industries, from rigid to flexible packaging.

RPM currently has an established product line of four key models, which have been designed for different customers.
