Packaging (Essential Requirements) Regulations: Government Guidance Notes

This white paper on packaging regulations states that those responsible for packing and filling products or importing packaging into the UK, may not place packaging into the market unless it fulfils essential requirements, and is within the heavy metal concentration limits.

According to the regulations, packaging volume and weight must be kept to a minimum to maintain the necessary levels of safety, hygiene and acceptance for the packed product and for the consumer; and noxious or hazardous substances in packaging, such as ash or leachate from incineration or landfill, must be minimised.
