Central National Gottesman’s (CNG) has announced that its Kelly/Spicers portfolio has acquired American Packaging to further expand its packaging business in western US.

Based in Northern California, American Packaging provides packaging solution to various industries including food & drink, pharmaceutical, technology.

The acquired company has ‘strong expertise’ in packaging equipment, including sales, servicing, and maintenance and line integration design.

The companies did not provide any financial detail of the transaction.

CNG president and CEO Andrew Wallach said: “Our North American Distribution business continues to be focused on accelerating our growth and capabilities within the packaging industry.

“The addition of American Packaging, consistent with our strategy, will provide a broader range of packaging products and solutions to our new and existing customers.”

Following the transaction, American Packaging current president Kaye Leedham Herning will continue in her role.

Additionally, the business will continue to operate under American Packaging brand from its 72,000 ft2 San Leandro warehouse. The name is expected to be changed to Kelly/Spicers later this year.

Kelly/Spicers operate eight regional locations and 35 retail stores serving the Western US and Hawaii.
