Coveris has announced plans to open the new Pack Positive Development Centre at its Rivendell site in Leeds, UK, to produce sustainable packaging options.
The company has established an academic partnership with Leeds Beckett University’s Retail Institute for the centre, which is set to open on 31 January.

The centre will complement the launch of the company’s new Pack Positive sustainability strategy, which covers certain eco-friendly measures to achieve recyclability, packaging and food waste reduction.
Coveris will provide a collaborative learning and development space for industry experts to work on sustainable packaging options across multiple plastic and paper formats.
The centre will be used to drive sustainable value across Coveris’s packaging development process, including ideation and insight, testing, print, commercialisation, and recyclability.
The centre will align qualitative research and consumer insights with tangible packaging development using a suite of development processes such as a merchandising store, photography studio, CAD, creative design, and Mimaki printer to expedite sampling and visualisation.

The centre will offer links to satellite facilities, including the extensive extrusion, print and conversion facilities, Freshlife Food Science lab in Gainsborough, and its polymer science facility in Winsford.
