Crown Asia Pacific has introduced a new generation of lightweight SuperEnd beverage ends that use 10% less metal compared to the conventional 52mm can ends.

The new interchangeable SuperEnd beverage end is compatible with seamer tooling used with other available lightweight ends.

The new beverage ends use less aluminium during the manufacturing process, which reduces the amount of energy required during distribution.

The end product is 100% recyclable as aluminium can be used as a permanent resource for the production repeatedly without any loss in quality or physical properties.

The interchangeable SuperEnd beverage end is currently available for manufacturers located within the Asia Pacific region.

Crown and its licensees has produced more than 580 billion SuperEnd beverage ends since the introduction of the technology in 2000.

In the process, the company has saved nearly 150,000 metric tonnes (mt) of aluminium, 2,550mt of coatings and 1,160,000mt of greenhouse gas emissions.

Last month, Crown reduced energy consumption by 5.3% per billion standard units last year, compared to its 2015 levels.

During the same period, absolute energy consumption declined by 1.3%, while production improved by nearly 4.2%.
