DS Smith Tecnicarton has developed a new industrial packaging solution, Tecnipack container, for Plastic 7, which serves the automotive sector.

Developed in collaboration with Plastic 7, the new container solution enables the safe transportation of various newly developed parts.

The collaboration first decided to improve some of the existing containers, so that they can be reused. However, after several tests, this possibility was discarded due to the little practicality of the idea.

After presenting a variety of prototypes, the companies finalised the creation of a non-folding Tecnipack container, which is reinforced with metal sheets at the bottom.

The polythene (PP) cover system with the three-quarters opening was also incorporated in the container to accommodate all kinds of pallet available in the market.

The companies also used the advanced material to ensure the container's interior remains in good condition during journeys.

In a separate development, DS Smith Plastics announced that its Extruded Products division was selected by Spanish post service company Correos to supply durable plastic dividers for existing plastics boxes.

As part of the deal, DS Smith Plastics has provided more than 700,000 Akyplen plastic dividers to Correos.

The dividers were supplied among Correos’s 2,000 distribution offices throughout Spain, with an aim to improve the company’s efficiencies in collecting, sorting and transporting letters throughout their mailing operations.
