Corrugated packaging manufacturer GWP has achieved FSC Chain of Custody certification for its business, enhancing the sustainability of the packaging products it manufactures and its business as a whole.

The certification license number FSC – C161914 provides verification of the company’s corrugated packaging in accordance with the organisation rules.

GWP customers will now have access to FSC certified transit packaging, e-commerce boxes and point of sale displays.

In addition to achieving FSC Chain of Custody certification, the company enhanced sustainability for the corrugated and other forms of packaging during the pandemic.

The company supplies across various range of customers including large multi-national companies to small scale start-ups.

GWP Packaging sales director David Mason said: “There has been an increasing demand amongst our customer base for packaging that is more environmentally sound, from companies both large and small alike.

“By achieving the FSC certification it not only publicly demonstrates our commitment to environmental best practice, by sourcing all of our paper for our packaging from well-managed forests, but also complements the wide range of other initiatives we have been implementing over the last five years.”

Despite receiving the certification, GWP is yet to achieve the FSC standard.

The company must develop strict procedures and conduct a thorough audit across its supply chain to fulfil the criteria.

GWP managing director Ruth Cook said: “As we knew the material we use is from FSC approved sources, and we already have the ISO 14001 environmental standard in place, the logical next step was to become FSC certified ourselves.”
