US-based print solutions provider Kodak has opened a new flexo packaging technology centre in Shanghai, China.

Designed to share knowledge of Kodak FlexcelNX System with the print industry and other customers, the new centre features real-life examples of packaging projects and tools from Kodak.

The centre will help Kodak to share views on the use of flexographic printing in packaging with trade shops, printers, brand owners and industry partners across the Asia-Pacific region.

It will also offer the print industry and other businesses the opportunity to make printing plates for trials.

"Our world-class technology and packaging solutions are now on display and accessible in this incredibly important part of the world where we see great opportunities as printers adopt flexo technology to meet their customers’ needs."

Kodak flexographic packaging division general manager and vice-president Chris Payne said: “The quality, efficiency and environmental benefits of the latest flexo printing capabilities are driving more printers to transition from traditional gravure and offset solutions here in China and the Asia Pacific Region.

“Our world-class technology and packaging solutions are now on display and accessible in this incredibly important part of the world where we see great opportunities as printers adopt flexo technology to meet their customers’ needs.”
