US-based technology company Kodak and Uteco have partnered to introduce a new Uteco Sapphire EVO W flexible packaging press powered by Utrastream inkjet technology.

Uteco Sapphire has become the first flexible packaging press in the market that uses Kodak’s latest continuous inkjet technology.

Eastman Kodak Company president and Enterprise Inkjet Systems Division and vice-president Randy Vandagriff said: “Ultrastream is revolutionising flexible packaging for brands.

“Uteco’s application of our technology in their new press is a game-changer and a great example of how Kodak is helping printers to lower their costs and drive efficiency.

“We are proud to be delivering on the promise we made in February to have units in the market by the second half of 2020.”

Kodak’s first Ultrastream system with a print width of 1.25m has already been sold.

The company is expected to display the technology for the first time at drupa 2020 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
