Finland-based paper company Metsa Board has commenced the construction of a new sheeting line at its Äänekoski board mill with an investment of €11m.

The sheeting line will be installed in the existing sheeting plant and will commence production during September next year.

It is expected to increase the plant’s production capacity by 35,000t, bringing the total production to 120,000t annually. It will support the facility to meet customer demands.

Metsa Board will use the investment for additional automation to the existing sheet cutters as well as equipment for cutter reel handling and storage.

In a separate development, the company has made an investment of €5m in a second baling line at its Kaskinen mill in Finland.

The investment is expected to increase the plant’s bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) capacity, as well as enhance product consistency and production reliability. It will become operational during November or December this year.
