US-based vitamins and supplements firm Nature’s Way has introduced a line of sustainable packaging options for its herbal portfolio.

The company partnered with global packaging firm TricorBraun to create the bottles. The packaging line is made using 97% post-consumer recycled (pcr) plastics.

The herbal line features more than 300 items, including ginkgold, saw palmetto, ginger root, activated charcoal and turmeric.

TricorBraun Marketing, Design and Engineering senior vice-president Becky Donner said: “Square bottles are not common in the supplement industry, and this new design brings a fresh look to capture consumer attention at retail shelves, while also tying together the herbal line in a cohesive way.

“We are honoured to partner with Nature’s Way to create innovative packaging that supports their mission.”

The company has plans to launch its products with the new sustainable packaging options in the next few months.

The products will be available across Sprouts, Kroger, Whole Foods Market, Publix, Wakefern and CVS stores, as well as local natural grocery stores, co-ops and online retailers such as Amazon.

Nature’s Way brand manager Dan Countryman said: “At Nature’s Way, we are always striving to improve our sustainability practices and know it’s also a core value of our consumers.

“We often talk about how ‘We Go Where Herbs Grow Best’ to bring consumers the best the Earth has to offer, and in tandem with that promise, we know that we need to respect and care for the planet that provides those gifts.”

TricorBraun offers a range of packaging solutions, including plastic and glass containers, closures, dispensers, tubes and flexibles. It has operations in more than 40 locations across North America and globally.

In January, the firm acquired US-based distributor of flexible packaging solutions Pacific Bag.
