UK-based Tonejet has partnered with industrial automation and information specialist Rockwell Automation to demonstrate direct-to-shape digital printing on cans at the upcoming Interpack event in Germany.

“Converters are looking to adapt existing workflows to meet new customer demands while maintaining profitability.”

“Consumer habits have changed considerably, and run lengths are lower than ever, with various product offerings on the shelf at any one time. Converters are looking to adapt existing workflows to meet new customer demands while maintaining profitability.

“The Tonejet with iTRAK system addresses these issues, providing a digital workflow with the flexibility required for small batch can production.”

The company also noted that its Digital 2-Piece Can Decorator helps beverage packaging producers to quickly and continuously print images onto cans, without stopping production to change plates or inks.

Tonejet currently provides an electrostatic drop-on-demand print head, which can produce cost-effective, high-quality images on different substrate types, without pre-coating.
