Packaging machinery solutions provider ProMach has strengthened its robotic integration capabilities with the acquisition of US-based Quest Industrial.

The deal will allow ProMach to expand its robotics projects capacity, improve robotics support competencies, and boost its integrated solutions capabilities for various applications.

Established in 2001, Quest offers automation solutions to food, beverage, plastics, and metal industries.

The company’s solutions include pick and place, cup filling, knife cutting, vacuum sealing, case erecting, tray forming, palletising, vision, and verification systems. It also integrates multiple application technologies into a single robotic packaging cell.

ProMach president and CEO Mark Anderson said: “We’re excited to welcome the Quest team to ProMach. Robotics has been a strong growth engine for ProMach recently, with significant double-digit growth over the last few years, driven by customers looking to add automation, flexibility, consistency and more to their packaging lines.

“Quest is a high-integrity team with a well-earned reputation for designing, fabricating, delivering, and supporting robotic cells to customers across a range of industries.”

Quest founder and CEO Don Wickstrum will also assume the role of robotic solutions business development vice-president at ProMach. Quest president Bill Weichmann will serve as the company’s vice-president and general manager.

ProMach also plans to strengthen Quest’s solutions portfolio, accelerate growth and support capabilities in key markets by making investments in the company’s team and operations.

The company offers a range of packaging solutions such as filling and capping, flexibles, pharma, product handling, labelling and coding to customers across various industries.

In February, ProMach acquired Code Tech, a US-based maker of inkjet marking and coding solutions, for an undisclosed sum.
