European corrugated packaging company Smurfit Kappa has launched a new QuickConnect Vitop tap for use on soft drink and wine dispensers.

The new tap is designed to fit existing dispensers mostly used by fast food restaurant owners and operators.

The tap is environmentally friendly and supports Smurfit Kappa’s ongoing sustainable initiatives.

The company has used linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) to inject all of the tap’s components including the cap, inner valve and gland. The inner valve is the only component that is coloured in blue.

During the production process, the tap is put through a quality control test including the 0.5 bar tightness test. It has also made use of injection and assembling technologies for the new QVC tap.

Smurfit Kappa’s Vitop Original tap is currently available in a range of options such as (black and red) for wine and apple juice, Blue Vitop for water, Green Vitop for olive oil or Vitop Compact.

Vitop CEO Didier Pontcharraud said: “This innovative new QuickConnect Vitop tap is another step forward for Vitop. Its ease of use and clever design will be appreciated by the restaurant owners and operators.”

Earlier this month, the company announced the launch of its sustainable TopClip solution in partnership with beer brewer Royal Grolsch.

Planned for debut this month at selected Netherlands’ supermarkets, the paper-based solution served as a replacement for the plastic shrink wrap used on Grolsch’s multi-pack cans.
