Technology and packaging giant Tetra Pak is working with US-headquartered software and sensor company Hexagon to enhance its Smart Solutions Platform with virtual visualisation and digital twin technology.
Tetra Pak says the upgrade offers clients a greater understanding of the production lines they are commissioning and allows them to make better-informed decisions.

Tetra Pak’s vice president of projects, engineering and plant automation Marie Sandin said: “With Tetra Pak’s Smart Solutions Platform, it will be easier for customers to do business with us. Collaboration in virtual space will make us more agile in both the projects and the lifecycle work.
“The first pilot is already in development in Lund [Sweden], and the global rollout will start in 2020.”
The company says its Smart Solutions Platform will allow faster installation of machines and help tailor the optimisation of manufacturing lines throughout their lifecycle. The solution includes reusable design and best practice ideas to further increase sustainability.
