Cardia Bioplastics said it will supply compostable bags to fast-food giant KFC in South Australia.
Cardia will replace KFC’s non-compostable plastic bags with a ‘green solution’, the company said.
The bags, which disintegrate within six to 12 weeks have been designed to convert into carbon dioxide and water within six months, the company said.
KFC’s bag swap comes after the South Australian Government imposed a ban on non-compostable plastic bags last year.
Cardia said that a ban on non-compostable bags is also expected to come into force in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
