The ARC Advisory Group has unveiled its new Packaging Operations Management System (POMS) supplier selection guide.
The guide helps an individual site or manufacturing company to select a packaging operations management system with the specific functionality required through its selection criteria and guided workflow steps, said the advisory group.
The criteria’s scope allows a user to select the functionality, whether it is line management, product serialisation, or an entire system controlling labellers, coders, vision systems, machines, and robotics, as well as integration with ERP and warehouse management and reporting systems.
As well as helping in meeting specific regulatory and customer requirements, the guide provides compatibility with the existing installed base of packaging equipment and controls.
Users will be guided by the ARC STAR Supplier Evaluation and Selection Service through a gradual process selecting and assessing suppliers and their products against specific application and industry requirements.
The user is led by the process through the project and team definition, reviewing and editing selection criteria and supplier questions provided by ARC, weighing selection criteria, developing a supplier Request for Information (RFI) list, evaluating supplier responses, and developing RFI results final ranking.
ARC STAR documents the process and results for management review and approval, and helps ensure inclusive, fact-based, impartial supplier evaluations and selections, free of the user bias issues that hinder these activities.
According to ARC estimations, ARC STAR can bring down the cost and effort of a supplier selection process by more than 50%.
