Avery Dennison is all set to unveil a new pressure-sensitive labelling solution for meat packaging applications, which can withstand the vacuum-shrink process without wrinkling.
The new Avery Dennison Shrink PS, which offers improved packaging flexibility and brand differentiation, is applied to vacuum shrink bags prior to filling, sealing and shrinking, the company revealed.
Shrink PS also enables manufacturers to reduce or do away with multiple sets of pre-printed shrink bag inventories and provides decoration for seasonal and short-run opportunities, while decreasing obsolescence and overall costs.
Dan Galovic, Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials market segment leader – food, said the new labelling solution enhances its customers’ brands and provides production-related benefits.

According to the company, the new Shrink PS can be applied for processed and fresh meats, pork and poultry products.
The label shrinks and conforms to the bag, delivering a finish resulting in aesthetic appeal, when immersed in hot water following vacuum sealing.
The water-resistant construction and permanent adhesive guarantee that the Shrink PS label will firmly stick to the end product throughout the value chain.
Besides, Avery Dennison has partnered with Tronics to develop a shrink labelling applicator for Shrink PS, which has been designed to dispense Shrink PS labels automatically to roll perforated vacuum-shrink bags.
US-based Avery Dennison has operations in more than 50 countries and reported sales from continuing operations of $6bn in 2011.
