Heat-shrinkable sleeve labelling equipment manufacturer Axon will introduce the Aurora Wide shrink film applicator at Pack Expo in Las Vegas September 23 to 25.
The new mandrel-style applicator has been engineered to apply up to 400mm lower gauge films in layflat width, a typical range for broad containers as well as multipacks.
Built with the company's new application technology, the system incorporates features such as Allen Bradley controls, servo automation, PackML programming, plug and play functionality for hassle-free upgradeability and customisation.
The applicator consists of a tubular stainless steel frame with a cantilevered design that facilitates installation, maintenance and cleaning works. It includes a swing arm that allows flexible access to the Allen Bradley human machine interface touch screen.
A film buffer or 'festoon' system is also included in the Aurora Wide, which allows a smooth, motorised film feed to the applicator.
Other key features of the system include a splicing table that is height-adjustable with a film locking device and a second film roll holder, to ease the handling of heavy, large layflat film rolls.
Axon sales manager Ed Farley said: "The Aurora Wide's ability to process lower gauge, large layflat films provides a real win-win situation for our customers."
