Green packaging products manufacturer Biopac has expanded its 'I'm a green cup' range with the introduction of the new 100% compostable double wall version cup for the catering industry.

The new item has been launched following the success of the company's single wall 'I'm a green cup' in February and is made from certified Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) board with a starch based compostable lining.

The environmentally-friendly cups are available in 8oz, 12oz and 16oz, packed 500 cups per carton, and are equipped with a fully compostable sip through lid to fit each size.

"This new cup has two layers of board giving excellent thermal protection which removes the need for an additional clutch or sleeve."

Biopac technical director Mark Brigden said the success of its single wall cup introduced earlier had prompted the company to extend the range and would offer customers a double wall version too.

"This new cup has two layers of board giving excellent thermal protection which removes the need for an additional clutch or sleeve," Brigden said.

Graphics on the cup are standard, and companies can also have their logos printed in up to five colours with Biopac's customisable design service.

The cups are compliant with EN13432, the European norm for compostability, and are claimed by the company to be suitable for coffee outlets, festivals and outdoor events.

UK-based Biopac develops and supplies environmentally responsible packaging and catering disposables.
