Germany-based spirits manufacturer Waldemar Behn is set to launch its cocktails in a new packaging created by Bischof + Klein.

The new stand-up 'ShakerPouch', which is shaped like a cocktail shaker, comprises a multi-ply laminate and provided with gravure printing.

According to the company, the alcohol components are separated from the fruit essence by a tubular bag within the stand up pouch, until the drink is prepared.

They come into contact just before drinking and develop their full aromas immediately.

The ShakerPouch, considered to be ecologically advantageous, comes with a viewing window that enables the consumer to watch the fruit pulp mixing with the base spirit.

The easy-to-open stand-up pouch has laser perforations and knurled embossing, packagingeurope.com reported.

Fresh fruit pulp within the pouch will be protected from light and its aroma is retained by an unprinted inner bag with aluminium coating, which sits within the pouch.

The new packaging solution weighs roughly nine grams, while the film diameter used for the pouch is around one twelfth of a millimetre.

All of the materials of the packaging, which are recyclable, can be returned to the material cycle.

Bischof + Klein, a European supplier of flexible plastic and paper packaging and technical films, is represented around the world by a network of production plants and sales offices.
