A 2D/3D packaging design created by branding and design agency Bluemarlin for Vimto Soft Drinks is set to hit shelves across the UK.

Vimto turned to Bluemarlin's Bath studio to design the packaging for its new Extreme brand of drinks.

The agency had to build one structure within the parameters of polyethylene terephthalate bottle material that would work for two drinks, Extreme Sport and Extreme Energy.

Vimto had a 'badge' in the Extreme Sports Company's recognisable logo, but still desired an impactful identity for the brand. Bluemarlin designed graphics that reflected the sensibilities of street art and graffiti.

Bluemarlin creative director of structure Guy Williams said that the agency embossed wave-like shapes on the surface of the bottle to communicate the technicality and speed associated with extreme sports.

"The rugged and powerful structure gives Extreme strong stand out and forms an ergonomic design that is incredibly tactile," Williams added.

Vimto's Emma Hunt said: "The new Extreme 2D/3D design by bluemarlin captures the essence of the Extreme brand. It pushes the boundaries of design, breaks category conventions and reflects the creativity and rebellion of our core target audience."
