Closed Loop Environmental Solutions and Germany-based Kobusch have jointly unveiled a new range of recyclable food and beverage packaging, which includes both pint and half-pint PET cups.

Closed Loop Environmental Solutions and Germany-based Kobusch have jointly unveiled a new range of recyclable food and beverage packaging, which includes both pint and half-pint PET cups.

Closed Loop Recycling plant in Dagenham, east London, will supply post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET flake that will make up a minimum of 50% of the material used in the cups.

All of the products, which will be manufactured in the UK, are compatible with a closed loop programme consisting of elements such as compliant packaging, recycling infrastructure and communications.

Both companies are looking to change the perception of packaging with the new range of products.

The parties will move it away from a simple commodity product towards providing a beneficial solution that gives environmental return as well as promoting sustainable behaviour across the UK.

Kobusch European foodservice sales manager Mark Durston said the company proposes to use post-consumer material in single-use food service packaging, in an attempt to reduce the use of virgin resources.

"Through closed loop programmes we can now demonstrate our commitment and responsibility to recover our packaging to incorporate back into the supply chain and support both UK manufacturing and the UK green economy," Durston said.

The programme is a holistic approach to recycling for venues and events where the inputs are defined to ensure possible recycling outcome.
