Crown Food Europe has joined with the Bonduelle Group to install a new metal packaging line at the firm's Novotitarovskaia plant located in Krasnodar Krai, southern Russia.

The line manufactures cans to pack peas and sweetcorn. According to Crown, the installation of a can line in-house will help streamline Bonduelle's production process and supply chain in the Novotitarovskaia plant.

The metal packaging line will allow Bonduelle to manage can inventory and simplify logistics, and will also be helpful in minimising operational downtime and ensuring quality products.

Bonduelle Russia general manager Hervé Caroff said that Crown's local manufacturing of the company's food cans provide it with an opportunity to improve its flexibility, service and product delivery.

"As Russian consumption continues to grow, it is critical to ensure that our operations run as efficiently and as effectively as possible," Caroff added.

Crown Food Europe senior vice president Didier Sourisseau said: "Crown and Bonduelle have a long history of partnership and we are committed to supporting them to develop their business in growth territories."

Crown initially opened a facility in Timashevsk, Russia in 2003. The addition of the line at Novotitarovskaia plant will expand its Russian presence.
