Closure Systems International (CSI) has launched a new closure for carbonated soft drinks and sparkling beverages.
The new one-piece / linerless 28mm -losure Omni mini XP, which weighs less than 2g, is compatible with the 1881 bottle finish.
According to the global closure manufacturer, brand owners producing sparkling beverages can benefit from the closure's capping application performance, CO2 retention, impact resistance and raw material savings.
Manufactured using fully recyclable polyethylene resin, the closure can be used across the complete beverage packages, ranging from 250ml to 3l non-returnable PET bottles.
Several closure knurl patterns, including 24, 24/120, 60 and 120, are also available, said the company.
The closure, which is expected to meet all global bottler protocols across the range of distribution conditions, is claimed to deliver source reduction as well as a reduced carbon footprint.
Commenting on the new product, CSI global marketing director John Grainda said, "We've packed an incredible amount of innovation and advanced technology into this highly efficient design."
Precision-engineered so as to improve capping application performance, the closure reduces cocked caps, variability across colors, and sensitivity to bottling line speed changes resulting in lower cost of operation.
Besides delivering resistance and CO2 performance, the Omni mini XP keeps the pack secured even when exposed to harsh distribution and retail display conditions, besides offering product freshness for consumers.
CSI is part of Rank Group's operating division, Reynolds Packaging Division.
