Dow Europe and Swiss company PetroplastVinora have introduced a new stretch sleeve label that addresses the needs of brand owners who label contoured bottles and containers.
The new Visique, which combines mechanical and optical properties, fits like a second skin and gives a gloss finish for better shelf appeal, Dow Europe said.
Developed initially for the beverage market, the label can be adapted for a wide range of applications, including personal, household and healthcare products.
Dow Performance Packaging Labels, Films & Adhesives marketing manager Karin Katzer, commenting on the label, said, "This novel high performance stretch sleeve solution is the fruit of our knowhow in designing innovative and distinct polyethylene resins and PetroplastVinora's exceptional process experience and capabilities for blown film extrusion, printing and sleeve manufacturing."
The new stretch sleeve label integrates ELITE advanced technology (AT) resins from Dow.
According to Dow, the films can expand by up to 55%-60% for easier handling and shrink back into the recesses of the container for a tight fit, without sagging.
Offering good holding strength to facilitate wrapping, the products are easy to process and require no heat tunnel.
The label, which offers a very low level of defects, allows for both transparent and colour-printed labels.
Brand owners can also use the larger sized labels to provide their customers with more information.
The performance of ELITE Resins offers opportunities that can provide support to brand identity.
Flexible packaging supplier PetroplastVinora operates production facilities for monolayer, three five and seven-layer blown film extrusion, flexographic printing, lamination and finishing.
