Biodegradable films and bags producer EcoCortec has announced plans to invest €3m to carry out phase three expansion at its Beli Manastir plant in Croatia.

The plant is situated on a 10,000m² site in what the company believes is a geo-strategic area in central Eastern Europe. The expansion is set to double the plant's production and warehousing capacity.

The new production hall comprises three new extrusion lines and a confectioning line of Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI) papers.

The hall will also house biological waste treatment products for the company's Canadian subsidiary Bionetix.

EcoCortec decided to widen its capacities in a bid to strengthen its position in the market owing to an increase requirements for new equipment.

EcoCortec operates as a subsidiary of US-based Cortec that manufactures and distributes corrosion protection products. It manufactures Cortec's VpCI films and offers complete converting, extruding, and printing capabilities to customers.
