Designer and manufacturer of sustainable packaging solutions Ecologic Brands is set to open its first fibre bottles production facility in Manteca, California, US.

The 60,000ft² facility will increase Ecologic Brand's annual production volume of its line of moulded fibre bottles from six to 60 million units.

Ecologic selected Manteca for its facility as the location is close to partners who provide corrugated material. It is also ideally situated along core freight lanes with good port access.

The corrugated material will be up-cycled by Ecologic into fibre bottles.

Manteca houses a large skilled labour force that is well suited for the company's manufacturing processes. Ecologic plans to create more professional opportunities in the sustainable packaging field in this area.

The operational setup will allow the company to enhance the quality and consistency of its production processes, as well as minimise costs.

Ecologic Brands founder & CEO Julie Corbett said: "The decision to open the facility in Manteca was to better service the increasing demand for our sustainable products."

The fibre bottles, called eco.bottles, are used by several brands in the US and Canada. Seventh Generation 4X concentrated laundry detergent use the bottles, as well as Bodylogix protein powder and Safeway store-brand laundry detergent.

The company also recently began shipping cardboard bottles to brands in Australia, Korea and Mexico.
